A Safety Standards Certificate shows a vehicle met Ontario's minimum safety standard on the day it was inspected. You'll usually need one to put plates on a used vehicle in your name.
The certificate is valid for 36 days after the inspection, so it's best to book it close to the sale or registration.
We inspect to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation standard. In plain English, that covers:
Pads, rotors, drums, lines and the parking brake, measured against the minimums.
Ball joints, tie rods, shocks, struts and springs, checked for wear and play.
Tread depth, damage, matching sizes, and how the wheels are mounted.
Headlights, brake lights, signals and the rest of the lighting, working and aimed.
Rust and damage that affect safety, along with doors, hood and bumpers.
The exhaust system, plus the horn, wipers, mirrors, seat belts and dashboard warning lamps.
You get a straight list of what needs work to pass, with the price for each item. Nothing gets fixed until you say yes, and you're free to have the work done here or anywhere else.
If we do the repairs, we can finish the inspection once the car meets the standard.
A safety only shows the car met the minimum standard on inspection day. It isn't a warranty, and it doesn't tell you how long the engine, transmission or other parts will last.
Buying a used car? A pre-purchase inspection looks at the whole car, so you know what you're buying before you pay. Many buyers book both.
Call, text or book online. We'll give you a time to bring the car in.
A licensed technician goes through every item on the provincial checklist.
It passes and you get your certificate, or you get the list of what it needs and the price.
We can issue the Ontario Safety Standards Certificate ourselves.
Our team holds Ontario 310S and 310T certificates.
If something fails, you see the price first and decide.
